Football is one of the best means to educate a child in Brazil. Besides, it is a great ally in the process of peace and integration here in the community of Borel. In the past there was a war in this neigbourhood between gangs and police. So, who lived on the top of the hill, was seen as the enemy of someone who lived on the bottom of the hill. This resulted in conflicts, year after year. The majority of victims consisted of children.
Nowadays, during games and training sessions boys (at the age of 12-16 years) from different parts of the community play with each other. To participate in the games the boys have to attend school. The games are held on Tuesday and Thursday night untill 20 o'clock, because they have to go to school next morning.

The project began in september 2010 with a Borel Cup, with more than 100 boys participating. The final reunion to end this period will take place in the end of november. In 2011 after Carnaval we are planning to organize the next tournament with a special accent: every team will choose a country to present, to imitate the World Cup.
The name of this tournament will be: Borel Football Cup For Peace. We are searching for football clothes of the national teams around the world to make this possible. We need for example 15 shirts from the Dutch national team, when possible, inclusive shorts. Can you help us?
